Arsene Wenger has admitted that Arsenal has not been up to the standard this season.
The French manager said he understood the fans frustration as they wanted to win the title this season especially with the other big clubs failing to mount a proper challenge.
The Arsenal manager said that his team won the FA Cup and finished third last season, and he wanted them to go another step higher and challenge for the title. But unfortunately things did not go well at the later stage of the campaign, and they have ended up losing ground in the title race.
He wants the Arsenal fans to stay united and keep supporting the team so as to be able to finish the season strongly. Arsenal still have to secure the fourth place spot that will guarantee them Champions League football next season but with Manchester United four points behind and with a game in hand, it might be tough for them to qualify this season.
The French manager stated that it was unfair to question the team character. He said that his players are exceptional people and that they give everything on the pitch so as to win games. Arsene Wenger wants the fan to stay behind the team even if they have the right to be frustrated with the team.
For him, the Premier League was lost at home where they failed to take maximum points against the smaller clubs. The away form has been good for Arsenal, and it is against lower league sides that they have been unable to make it count.
He ended by saying that he really understands the fans frustration but has asked them to stay behind the team if they want to see progress at Arsenal.
