AC Milan and Italy legend Franco Baresi has said that Juventus have landed a great coup by acquiring the signature of Aaron Ramsey on a free transfer from Arsenal. The Wales international has been an influential performer for the Gunners over the past decade, but he has decided to take a fresh challenge at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Juventus have dominated the proceedings in the Serie A over the past eight years but Baresi remains hopeful that could change next term, he added: “Juventus has owned Serie A in the last few years so it’s important to see what the other teams can do in terms of growing. Teams like Inter, Roma, Milan, Lazio, and Napoli are definitely all growing at the moment. Champions League qualification will be very important for Milan this year. It brings in money, it brings in opportunities for investment and chances to progress so it’s important.”
The Bianconeri recently suffered their maiden league defeat of the season but that has done no harm to their league prospects with a 15-point advantage over Napoli at the top of the table. As such, they can afford to place more focus on the Champions League campaign where they have been pitted against Ajax at the quarter-final stage.
On paper, the Bianconeri are considered as outright favourites to progress to the last four, but they need to be wary of the attacking threat from Ajax which caught Real Madrid off guard during the previous round. Dusan Tadic remains the standout performer for the Amsterdam club with 25 goals and 11 assists across all competitions this season.
