A lot of Arsenal fans were disappointed when the club failed to sign a striker replacement for Gabonese international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who had been ostracized from the first team for over a month before his move to Barcelona on the last day of the just concluded winter transfer window.
Earlier this week, reliable English journalist David Ornstein gave an update on the new striker chase at Arsenal as he revealed that the Gunners were after three striker targets last month. According to him, Arsenal were also interested in signing Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Real Sociedad star Alexander Isak. The Athletic journalist said Arsenal officials want after the possible transfer for Vlahovic because it was the most likely in the middle of the season. He added that both Isak and Calvert-Lewin remain high on the list of their striker targets ahead of this summer’s transfer window.
Arsenal are expected to sign at least one new striker during this summer’s transfer window and they could even make more than one striker signing due to the status of current first-team strikers namely Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah. The two players have few months left on their respective Arsenal contracts and they would be free agents in the summer if they don’t sign a new deal with the Gunners.
