Premier League heavyweights Arsenal are reportedly the favourites to sign in-form Serbian international DusanVlahovic from Italian Serie A club Fiorentina in this winter transfer window. This is according to well respected British journalist David Ornstein. According to him via The Athletic, the Gunners are in pole position to sign Vlahovic in terms of wages and transfer fees.
Fiorentina are almost resigned to losing his services after he failed to sign a new deal at the club. Vlahovichas 18 months to run on his current contract with the Florence-based club.
Arsenal have been linked with a move for Vlahovic over the past weeks as they attempt to bolster their attacking options this year. Recent reports stated that the Gunners have made a bid of €55m plus Lucas Torriera for Vlahovicfor a total package of €70m which is still said to be short of the asking price from Fiorentina. As things stand, Arsenal might need to increase their offer to the €80m asking price demanded by the Italian Serie A side if they want to sign Vlahovic.
Uruguayan international midfielder Torriera is on loan at Fiorentina from North London giants Arsenal and he has impressed at the club since joining them at the start of this season. Reports claimed that Fiorentina want to sign him to a permanent deal for €15m and Arsenal are keen to use him as part of the deal to sign Vlahovic.
The Athletic journalist Ornstein also said that Arsenal have striker alternatives if they are unable to sign Vlahovic. The alternatives are Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Real Sociedad attacking talent Alexander Isak who’s a Swedish international.
