Dutch Eredivisie League side Feyenoord completed the signing of Arsenal star Reiss Nelson on a season-long loan on transfer deadline day but the Gunners youngster was not their first choice. Feyenoord initially wanted to sign Manchester United star Amad Diallo on loan this summer and already started discussions with the Red Devils for the transfer of the young Ivory Coast international star. The Dutch club eventually reached an agreement with the Red Devils for the transfer of the youngster and the move was subject to a medical and the signing of the necessary paperwork but the player picked up an injury in training and the deal could not go ahead.
The departure of Daniel James from Manchester United to Leeds United was also done on deadline day and Diallo’s transfer was another one that was planned but having been told that he could be out for up to six weeks on the sidelines, he is set to remain at Old Trafford this season.
Arsenal star Reiss Nelson had been clamoring for a move away from the Emirates Stadium and was subject to a lot of interest from several clubs not only in the Premier League but from abroad as well. He was said to be linked with moves to Crystal Palace, West Bromwich Albion, West Ham United, and Brighton and Hove Albion.
However, Feyenoord have stolen the March ahead of the other suitors and will have him in their books for the 2021-2022 season.
