Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has heaped praise on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang following his match-winning brace in the 3-2 triumph over Everton on Sunday. The Gunners had a tough encounter against a lively Everton side but they managed to prevail with the three points with Aubameyang scoring in either half.

With that, the Gabon international scored his 16th and 17th league goals of the campaign and he is currently tied with Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot. Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville admitted that he initially had doubts regarding the forward’s commitment following his behaviour during the final stages of his Borussia Dortmund career.

He added that the 30-year-old has certainly proved himself in the Premier League and he is probably underappreciated from the fact that he is not playing one of Liverpool, Manchester City or Manchester United. He told: “He had this reputation when he came over from Dortmund that he might be a bit difficult. I think the doubts have to be removed.

“I don’t think he gets appreciated anywhere as much as he should do for his quality performances at the highest level. Maybe if he was playing for Liverpool or City…I think even Rashford and Martial get more airtime maybe because of the Man United link, we are all guilty. I think this lad has been absolutely sensational and should be given the credit he deserves.”

Aubameyang has now contributed 49 Premier League goals for the Gunners and he will have the chance to score his 50th when West Ham United visit the Emirates Stadium next month. Prior to that, the Gunners have to tackle Olympiakos in the second leg of the Europa League round of 32 on Thursday night and Aubameyang could have a keen role to play in the Gunners advancing to the next round. The club have the away goal advantage after the 1-0 win during the first leg in Piraeus.
