The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that the club will not be bringing in the former striker Thierry Henry in a loan spell like last season. The striker returned for a second spell at the club last season on loan deal from the MLS club New York Red Bulls that lasted about two months. His presence was extremely influential on the team after it helped them finish in the third position ahead of Tottenham. There have been suggestions that the club will be trying to bring the striker, who has been training with them, for a third spell.
The Frenchman is the record goal scorer at the club and is regarded as a legend by many fans. He also has a statue unveiled in front of the Emirates stadium, which shows the level of importance he has been given by the club. Yet, he will not be coming back to the club in the third spell according to Wenger, who has promised that there will be other signings. The 35-year-old is at the twilight of his career, but he has been training with Arsenal in order to keep up his fitness during the MLS off-season. The former Barcelona man has been a huge success at his MLS team.
“I will be active, yes. Will I be concrete? I hope so. We are looking everywhere, we are open-minded. We want to strengthen the squad if possible if we find the right players. I think he goes away somewhere. He is not ready, he has just come back from holiday anyway. At the moment we are not on that case,” said Arsene Wenger after the match with Southampton. Despite playing a relegation threatened team, Arsenal were unable to assert their dominance in the match and could only come away with a 1-1 draw.
